Sand Hollow State Park, July 2016

Last week we drove down to Hurricane to visit Sand Hollow Reservoir State Park.  It was going to be 95 degrees in Cedar City that day and we decided that it would be too darn hot.  So down to Sand Hollow with the ice chest full of food and drink.  Swimming suits on, rocky stream shoes, flotation devices, towels, sunglasses, everything but sun screen.  My wife had put some self tanning lotion with a sunscreen on earlier, but not all exposed places.  “We don’t need sun screen because we will be in the water or under the sun shaded picnic area.”  We swam, ate, and swam some more.  Watched boaters;  some pulled into a little cove on an island and climbed up a 20 to 30 foot cliff and jumped off the top into the water.  It looked like a lot of fun, but probably not for old people.

Guess what?  We needed sun screen!  We both got a pretty good sunburn.  Who knew?  It was only 112 degrees when we left for Cedar.  Good times.
